The firm

How we work.

A named partner, commercial lawyers and software engineers take on a share of your contract work, to your positions, for a fixed monthly fee. This page sets out who does the work, what the technology does, how an engagement runs and how the fee works.

People

A named partner answers for every engagement.

A partner is responsible for your engagement from the first call. The partner knows your matters, signs every document, position and piece of advice before it leaves the firm, and joins your calls. Commercial lawyers review, draft and negotiate each contract under the partner’s supervision, and software engineers work on the same team.

The technology now does the work that associates once did, so the firm has no pyramid. The people you deal with are the people who do the work. The partners

Technology

The technology reads every draft the day it arrives.

Our engineers build the technology our lawyers work with. It reads each draft against your positions on the day it arrives, compares each round with the last and keeps one record of the negotiation, so no point is lost between rounds and no round starts from scratch.

A lawyer reviews everything it produces, and a partner signs it before it leaves the firm. We use your documents only for your matters and never to train models. Client information

Process

Your positions govern the work from the first day.

Before any work starts we check for conflicts and agree an engagement letter. We settle your positions with you, and which points come back to you before we concede them. Work then arrives and returns through the channel your team already uses, and the commercial and legal decisions stay with your business and your team.

On contracts governed by Indian law we advise in our own name, and a partner negotiates directly with the counterparty. On contracts governed by other law we work under the direction of your own counsel, who remains responsible for the legal advice to your business. Governing law

The fee

You agree a fixed fee for the month before it begins.

We agree a fixed fee for each month, for the share of your contract work we take on. The fee does not change with the number of rounds a contract takes, the drafts it goes through or the calls it needs. A contract that runs to six rounds costs the same as one that runs to two.

We take on a peak for a fixed period at a fee set for it. We quote work outside the agreed share before we do it, as a fixed price where the work allows one, and we agree the scope and fee of an investment or acquisition transaction by transaction.

An hourly fee grows with every round and every call. Ours does not, so you pay for the share of work and not for the time it takes. The technology does the first read of every draft, so the fee reflects the hours no longer spent on it. You know the cost of a month before it begins, and a peak passes without a hire.
